May 15, Praise, Prayer and Schedule

Dear Friends,

Thanks to everyone who sent me birthday cards, either by mail or email. I received about 90 cards and I enjoyed reading each one and remembering all the wonderful friends that God has given me. My family did a great job of giving me a party on Saturday and then we also celebrated on Monday, which was my real birthday. I truly don’t feel like a 70 year old but then I'm not sure what that should feel like! This month has been a light travel month but we will get going again next week.

PRAISE

Amy and I will celebrate 48 years of marriage on our anniversary, June 3.

We are truly thankful for God’s provision of safety in all our travels.

We praise the Lord for His strength both physically and spiritually in our ministry.

We are greatly encouraged by the responses of churches to the workshops.

Praise the Lord that we have received almost $9,000 toward paying off our van and we now owe about $7,000.

We will be driving to Michigan for our grandson, Ryan's, graduation from high school on May 24.

Our grandson, Eric, is home for the summer to work and to do an internship at our church.

Our grandson, Kyle, got a job at the airport in Flint, MI

Our granddaughter, Aimee's, business in Chicago is doing very well.

PRAYER

Pray for the Smith Family Reunion at Lambert, TN, June 1-3.

Pray with us for the many opportunities we have to preach and teach in the next few months.

Pray that the information in the workshops will continue to challenge and help churches.

Pray for the Lord’s provision of the rest of the funds to pay off the van.

Pray for a healthy pregnancy for Jana.

Pray for our granddaughter, Cara, as she finishes her class in Korean and takes exams this weekend, then flies home on the 29th.

May Monthly Update

Dear Friends,

We are beginning the month of May and realize how fast 2007 is passing. The Lord is blessing us very much and we are encouraged in our ministry. May always has several special days. One of course is Mothers Day which is Sunday, May 13, this year. Another is Jerry’s birthday on May 14 and this year he reaches the milestone of 70 years. He says that he may be 70 but he doesn’t have to feel or act like it! We are having a birthday party on Saturday, May 12th from 2 to 5 and would like to invite anyone who can, to come and help him celebrate. The first Sunday of May is always memorial at the little church in Golden Valley, NC, where Amy's parents are buried so we plan to be there this weekend.

As April began we were at Honesdale Gospel Tabernacle in Honesdale, PA for a weekend of ministry. On Monday, April 2, we got up early and drove to Lancaster, PA, where we attended an IFCA pastors breakfast with about 20 men. It was a good time of fellowship and encouragement. Then we drove that afternoon to Richmond, VA where we spent the night with two of Jerry's sisters. We drove home on Tuesday and were home for a week. On Wednesday, April 4, our daughter, Susan, came to spend her week of Spring Break with us and we had great fun having all three of our daughters together with us.

On Thursday, April 12, we flew to Baltimore, MD and then drove to Lancaster, PA. We had a great time with Steve and Becky Cornell and spoke at Millersville Bible Church 3 times. The church provided us with wonderful lodging at Willow Valley Inn and we also got to see the Sight and Sound production, “In The Beginning.” We arrived back in Atlanta on Wednesday, April 18. On Sunday, April 22, Jerry preached at our new church plant, Community Bible Church in Bethlehem, GA. We are pleased with the way it is coming along. We had a quick trip to Ridgecrest, NC for a BMA (Bible Memory Association) Reunion on Monday and Tuesday, April 23 and 24. It was a great blessing to reconnect with folks we worked together with at Miracle Camp back in the 70's and 80's.

During the time we have been home we have had many opportunities for breakfast or lunch meetings for fellowship and planning. We even had a few doctor appointments and both of us seem to be doing well healthwise. We participated in two banquets here at the mission. A Volunteers Banquet was to honor all the folks who help out as volunteers here at BMW. A Retirement Banquet honored two of our long time Board Members, Elwood & Joy Chipchase and Frank & Virginia Almas, who are retiring from the BMW board this year.

We are so appreciative for the part you have in praying for us and supporting us in so many ways. Thanks!
