Monthly Update, December 5, 2006

Dear Friends,
Amy and I are enjoying a few days of vacation in Lancaster, PA. Today we went to see the “The Miracle of Christmas”, a musical drama of the Christmas story, at the Sight and Sound Theater and it was really awesome. We had dinner last night with friends, Al and Magdalena Piranian, in Philadelphia. Tonight we met Henry and Cathy Heijermans, BMW co-workers, for dinner. Tomorrow morning I will meet with pastor, Steve Cornell, for breakfast and then participate in a pastors fellowship. In the evening we will be with Steve and Becky Cornell. Is this a vacation or just an excuse to meet with people?
November was a busy month for us. We began the month by driving to Michigan. On Saturday, Nov. 4, I taught a workshop at a leaders retreat with two churches in Allegan. Then on Sunday, Nov. 5, I spoke in the morning at Allegan Bible Church and in the evening at Emmaus Road Bible Church. On Monday we drove to Grand Rapids for the IFCA Board Meeting Tuesday-Friday. We drove up to White Cloud, MI and I taught a workshop at Faith Bible Church on Nov. 10-11. I taught a Sunday School class on Sunday morning, then we left for our drive to New York. We stopped on Sunday afternoon for about a 4 hour visit with our daughter, Susan, and family. That night we drove as far as Erie, PA. On Monday we drove on to Binghamton, NY, where I spoke in Chapel on Tuesday, November 14, at Davis College. We have special friends there, Lucy Friend, and her children so we enjoyed spending an evening with them.
Tuesday afternoon we drove up to Schroon Lake, NY. We visited with many friends at Word of Life and I spoke at Faith Bible Church in Chestertown, NY, on Wednesday evening. This is the sending church of Robin Brooks, a BMW missionary, who was leaving in a few days to begin her ministry in New Zealand. We attended the Word of Life Pastors Conference Thursday-Saturday (Nov. 16-18). We enjoyed the speaker and had some good contacts with pastors who came for the conference. We were one of eight couples chosen on Thursday night to participate in a “newly-wed” game, and we were the winners and won a free weekend at Word of Life! Guess we know each other pretty well! When the conference ended, we drove Saturday afternoon to Wappingers Falls, NY where I spoke at Grace Bible Church on Sunday.
On Monday, Nov. 20, we drove to Richmond, VA, to spend two days with my sister, Pat, and her husband, John. My sister, Laurette and my niece, Katrina also came and we had a great time together. On Wednesday we drove to Chattanooga and spent Thanksgiving with Amy’s brother, John and his wife Pat. Vince, Jill and Janelle met us there. We drove home Thanksgiving night, and were very glad to see our home. We were thankful for a safe journey and good weather for driving.
The last week of November was spent in meetings in our area and in catching up with three weeks of accumulated mail and work in the office. Amy also got our house decorated for Christmas.
Thanks again for keeping us in your prayers. It was good to be able to drive those many miles in a car that was trustworthy and very comfortable. Praise the Lord with us that so far we have received over $3000 toward the cost of the car.
We wish you a very Merry Christmas.
